Reopening SROA Update

With "Reopening Oregon" plans approved for Deschutes County, SROA prepares to offer some activities
Post Date:05/15/2020 4:56 PM

As many of you know, Governor Kate Brown has allowed limited openings of a variety of businesses and recreational amenities upon approving a plan prepared by and for each County.  The Deschutes County plan was reviewed and found to meet all applicable criteria and was approved by her office yesterday (May 14).

In anticipation of the authorized reopening, the SROA staff has been busy preparing their own plans to reopen some recreation amenities in a limited fashion.  Because the Governor’s and County plans have just been approved, with clarifications still evolving, we will be finalizing our plans next week in preparation of providing some of our recreational activities.  These include:

  • Member services
  • Owner fitness center
  • Disc Golf
  • Tennis
  • Pickleball

The pathways and boat launch, as well as open space within parks, will continue to be accessible.  The pools and aquatic facilities at SHARC, as well as the basketball courts and playgrounds, will remain closed under the Governor’s existing order.

The health and safety of everyone is of the utmost importance to all of us.  In this vein, social distancing, sanitizing/cleaning, limited access, and other factors to keep us all safe will be implemented at all facilities.  SROA staff will be present to educate participants on the rules that are being implemented, and to encourage everyone to do their part for public health and safety.  This will take a team effort, with everyone pulling their weight.

As SROA moves forward with the limited recreational openings, we will continually adjust to provide more access as is feasible given the constraints we all face.  As we begin to open these facilities, we ask that everyone practice prescribed safety measures and be patient as this is a learning experience for all of us.  Over the course of the next week, we will include additional information on the SROA webpage and through E-Notifications pertaining to recreation schedules and future expansion of services – please check the website regularly.

Stay Safe!
