What CAN and CAN'T be recycled in Sunriver
YES items
• Aluminum: Cans and foil, clean & remove labels • Tin cans: Clean cans & remove labels • Glass bottles & jars: Cleaned, no lids • Mixed paper: Junk mail, brown bags, envelopes, white/colored paper, computer paper, tin can labels, wrapping paper, newspapers, magazines & catalogs • Paperboard/corrugated cardboard: Cereal, cracker & shoe boxes, soda/beer cartons, paper egg cartons, paper towel tubes. Paperboard may go into the regular recycle bin while corrugated cardboard (ie: shipping/packaging type boxes) need to be flattened and placed in the cardboard recycle bin. • Plastic bottles/containers: Neck must be smaller than the base. Recyclable plastics carry the 1 or 2 recycling symbol on the bottom. • Butter, yogurt or sour cream type
tubs: Must be clean, no lids.
NO items
• No pie tins, foil wrapping paper or wrapping ribbon. • No styrofoam or packing peanuts. • No ceramics, plates or cups, baking dishes, Pyrex, light bulbs, mirrors or window glass. • No lids from jars or bottles. • No slick or wax coated cardboard or pizza boxes. • No confetti-style shredded paper; paper strips OK. • No dirty bottles or cans, rusty cans, paint or aerosol cans. Dumping of anything but the YES items results in the load going into the landfill and none of it recycled! Non-recyclable items can be taken to Knott Landfill in Bend or the SW Transfer Station south of Sunriver on Highway 97. See links at left for more information about garbage disposal or recycling.
