The most destructive tree-killing beetle in Oregon, Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) is a serious threat to Sunriver's pine trees and the surrounding forest.
SROA environmental staff perform property inspections each fall, and owners will be notified of any MPB infested trees on their property and the necessary steps to remove those trees.
To help prevent the spread from other trees or to neighboring properties, infested trees MUST be removed before June — a time when emerging adults take flight to find a new host tree and start the cycle again.
SROA maintains a list of tree removal contractors registered to remove trees in Sunriver. A permit is required prior to tree removal.
